    Griefing Protection

Post  Darksaga on Sat Feb 05, 2011 1:26 am

I was just thinking of ways to minimize the griefing on the server.

The idea that I came up with is sorta on the lines of a temporary whitelist, without having a whitelist. I was thinking if a new player enters the server if they are not allowed to build for a certain amount of in-game time... such as half hour, hour, etc. This would really turn off the griefers due to the fact that they would not want to wait around for an elapsed time to destroy things. I believe that if they saw that they had to wait, they would just find another server to grief.

    Any thoughts about this idea?

If you have any other new ideas please feel free to write them on this topic.

Basically, no. You're also making players who really want to get started with the server wait. This may also discourage new members who may be really good additions to the community.

There are a few plugins that I have thought about, one that requires all new members to be registered by an admin/mod.
    Basically they say /register
    and a mod says /accept
Except that this really doesn't stop griefers who can act normal.

Another would have admins create plots that only 1 person could build on. Either of these is just more work for admins to do day to day. I think the plugins we have right now are just fine except for the lag that detecting and rolling back griefers causes.
